A lecture by Professor Stephan Astourian
William Saroyan Director of the Armenian Studies Program
University of California, Berkeley
Professor Stephan Astourian’s talk will provide a survey of the field of Armenian Genocide studies, outline its academic development, especially over the past thirty years, and lay bare the “conditions” of its production. The lecture will assess the state of the current historiography, point to some of the gaps in the existing literature, and discuss the status of its main archival sources. It will conclude by exploring the road that lies ahead.
Co-sponsored by the UCLA Department of History and the Gustave E. von Grunebaum Center for Near Eastern Studies
